This study compared seven high school texts for gender representation regarding illustrations, frequency with which male and female scientists are mentioned by name, and the length of text reference for male and female scientists. Results support the following conclusions (a) there are significant differences between the number of males and females in illustrations, (b) there are significant differences between the frequency with which male and female scientists are mentioned by name; (c) there are significant differences between male and female scientists as to the extent of the reference; (d) all texts were biased against females.
