520 $a Two weeks after the removal of the corpuscles of Stannius (CSX) from freshwater North American eels plasma Na $\ sp{+} $, Cl $\ sp{-} $, magnesium and phosphate decreased and K $\ sp{+} $ and calcium increased. Urinary calcium and magnesium increased and inorganic phosphate decreased. There was a decrease in the fraction of filtered Na $\ sp{+} $ and magnesium reabsorbed. There was a positive linear correlation between glomerular filtration rate and urine flow rate before and after CSX. Osmolar clearance and free water clearance did not change after removal of the glands. A white precipitate found in the urine of CSX eels proved to be pure hydroxylapatite (1/2 $\ lbrack\rm Ca(OH)\sb{2.}3\ Ca\sb3\ (PO\sb4)\sb2\rbrack $) . There is evidence that one or more hormones of corpuscular origin regulate directly or indirectly the renal fluxes of calcium, magnesium and phosphate.
